about

On Commodo's latest for Sector 7 Sounds, he draws from a familiar palette – think stomach-lurching tension fused with inventive sampling and cinematic stylings – but, as ever, he refuses to rely on formulaic methods or overly headsy concepts. The two tracks featured on the new record – Scabz and Guah – are products of casual experimentation, with Commodo seeking out ways to work with 2-step drum patterns that don’t result in UKG-leaning sounds.

The release opens with 'Scabz'. Here, Commodo takes cues from the likes of early-era Objekt as he leads you down a murky and meandering road that’s lit with enough charm and slinkiness to ensure that you make it to the end unscathed. On the flip, Guah leans into boisterous, slightly trappier territory; a vigorous bounce, stemming from a 2-step snare balanced skilfully upon a trap-indebted kick pattern, felt on impact.

about

Commodo UK

An artist with minimal online presence, Commodo is one of an increasingly rare few who make waves through the strength of their music alone. He builds bass-focused beats with soul and substance that never perpetuate a formula, distancing himself from contemporaries with ingenious sampling and sound design influenced by his long-time affinity with the vibrancy of hiphop.
